If you are walking in the woods on a spring morning you have most likely heard a bird sitting alone on a dead branch and it said "Pewee" or a "Pewooo" as you walked by. This is the call of one hour flycatchers, the Eastern wood-pewee. Flycatchers are a pretty mysterious family of birds that most people don't notice or see. They spend their time in our forest and forest edges perching on snags waiting for insects to fly by. They then swoop down and snap them out of the air as their namesake flycatcher refers. Join us for a wonderful hike around Cope as we look for the different species of flycatchers living on the property. We will learn about their daily lives and how you can identify them by the songs they make.
