Full Moon Hike

  • Cope Environmental Center 1730 Airport Road Centerville, IN, 47330 United States (map)

Step into the new year guided by the serene glow of January’s first full moon. This special Full Moon Hike, under a striking waxing gibbous sky, invites participants to experience the quiet magic of Cope’s winter landscape after dark. As we move along the moonlit trails, you’ll discover how nocturnal wildlife adapts to the cold season, observe the shifting patterns of light and shadow, and listen for the subtle sounds that only emerge at night.

Our naturalist will share stories about the cultural significance of the midwinter moon, along with fun astronomical insights that will transform the moon overhead into a living, glowing companion. Bundle up, bring a sense of wonder, and let the night sky set the tone for the year ahead.

Thank you to IU East for sponsoring our Full Moon Hike.
