Winter Wildlife Tracking

  • Cope Environmental Center 1730 Airport Road Centerville, IN, 47330 United States (map)

Winter turns the forest into a storybook-if you know how to read the tracks. During Winter Tracking, families and nature lovers are invited to unlock the secrets left behind in snow, mud, and frost. Our naturalist will guide you through the fundamentals of animal tracking, teaching you how to recognize patterns, identify species, interpret gait, and understand what a track reveals about an animal’s behavior and purpose.

You’ll learn why animals move in specific ways during winter, how predators and prey leave different signatures, and what clues can be hidden in stride lengths, trail patterns, and disturbances in the landscape.
