October is one of the most exciting times of year to look to the skies and treetops! As birds make their way south for the winter, Cope’s forests, fields, and wetlands become temporary stops for both familiar species and unexpected visitors.

Join us for our monthly bird walk as we explore Cope’s trails and habitats in search of birds moving through during fall migration. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for warblers, sparrows, thrushes, woodpeckers, and other seasonal visitors while learning how to identify birds by their appearance, behavior, and calls.

Fall birding is full of surprises, you never quite know what might be waiting around the next bend or flitting through the branches overhead. Whether you’re an experienced birder or still learning how to tell one bird from another, this is a great opportunity to slow down, look closely, and discover the incredible journey happening all around us.
