Weird Science Wednesday: The Science of Laughter
Does stress impact your overall health? We will be introducing you to some scientific methods to increase your calmness. Let’s start with laughter! If you don’t LOL when you are in this program, we will have to try harder next time. Don’t forget, this is scientific so be ready to learn about physiology and neurotransmitters. Get ready to giggle.
Critter Connection
This month we are welcoming a friend who does so much for our local birds and animals in need. Joyce Luckett from Animal Care Alliance will be presenting a program with a few of her furry and feathered friends. Come to CEC to learn about what we can do to help rescue wildlife. While you are here you can help us to feed our animal ambassadors.
Ukuleles in Nature
The sweet, simple sounds reverberated in the peaceful surroundings of water and woods: See if it’s true… it’s hard to play a sad song with a ukulele. This class is for all levels. If you have a ukulele or if you don’t mind sharing one, please come and play a tune with our little group.
Critter Connection: Birds of Indiana
Birds of Indiana; Join us for a Bird hike tonight. Owls are more likely to be seen at night, so bring binoculars if you have them and watch for Indiana birds often seen toward evening.

Nature Hike: Spring Walk in the Woods
Maple Syrup as a sign of Springtime: Some look to the groundhog to see his shadow, others watch the flow of sap from the maple trees as a sign of spring being just around the corner. If it is still flowing, you may hear the drip, drip, dripping from the sap.

Nature Hike: Walk in the Woods
While you are here, join us for a hike in the woods to see how the wildlife is making it through the winter. Let’s see if the Maple trees are ready to produce sap too. February and March are the best months to collect sap for maple syrup production in Indiana.
Critter Connection: Feeding Reptiles
It’s feeding time! If you want the opportunity to learn more about reptiles, we have the perfect opportunity for you. You may be able to touch, hold, or just learn more about snakes and turtles. If they are hungry, we plan to feed our snakes and turtles while you are here.

Nature Hike: Animal Tracks and Traces
Animal tracks, chews, scats, fur, feathers, nests – these and more can give us clues to the lives of the wildlife which call the CEC home. Come be a Nature Detective to look for and interpret the clues that our local wildlife leaves behind that tell us how they live their lives. We'll also look for the hiding places of animals that are resting until the return of warm weather.

A new initiative to focus on women's mental health. This group will gather in sisterhood and connect with nature. Women's Circles are gatherings of women for women. "Mother Moon Women's Circle" will meet twice a month. The first meeting of the month will coincide with the new moon, and the last meeting of the month with the full moon.
Critter Connection
It is common to hear the Barred owl call, but they are silent flyers. Visit the Living Building Program room and find out what they sound like and what makes them so interesting. Let’s add birdwatching with binoculars to this interactive educational experience. While you are here, visit the Animal Ambassadors living on-site: reptiles and amphibians.

Geminid Meteor Showers
The living building will be open for viewing the Meteor showers from: 7:15pm-6:15am. Everyone is encouraged to bring camping chairs, sleeping bags, and binoculars. If you have a telescope, bring it! Snacks will be included. Information about the upcoming solar eclipses will also be available.
