Nature Hike: Spring Walk in the Woods
Maple Syrup as a sign of Springtime: Some look to the groundhog to see his shadow, others watch the flow of sap from the maple trees as a sign of spring being just around the corner. If it is still flowing, you may hear the drip, drip, dripping from the sap.
Family Maple Syrup Day 2023
Experience the art of making maple syrup, followed by a pancake breakfast! Sugar Bush Hike starts at 9:00am. Pancake Breakfast 9:00am - 11:30am.

While you are here, join us for a hike in the woods to see how the wildlife is making it through the winter. Let’s see if the Maple trees are ready to produce sap too. February and March are the best months to collect sap for maple syrup production in Indiana.

Nature Hike: Animal Tracks and Traces
Animal tracks, chews, scats, fur, feathers, nests – these and more can give us clues to the lives of the wildlife which call the CEC home. Come be a Nature Detective to look for and interpret the clues that our local wildlife leaves behind that tell us how they live their lives. We'll also look for the hiding places of animals that are resting until the return of warm weather.
Awesome Autumn Adventures
The colors of the trees tell a story. Hiking with a naturalist provides a whole new perspective to the world around you. Justin will lead us through the trails of CEC pointing out some historic trees, explaining the uniqueness of various species of flora and fauna.
Exploring the Meadow & Prairie
Come join us as we explore our meadow and prairie to see what flowers are blooming, which insects are pollinating the flowers and search for hidden predators who are waiting to catch the pollinators.
